Random Thoughts: Self-Isolation Edition 4/20

How's your self-isolation going? It’s week 6 for Californians. Here are some of the things I've been doing to stay sane.

  1. I'm reading as usual and have come to love e-books. One of my favorite things is going to the library and browsing for books or picking up my holds, but those are not things I can do right now. The Kindle and Libby apps are lifesavers. I'm so glad I found Libby, if you have a library card, you probably have access to Libby. There are thousands of audiobooks and e-books you can check out on there. I've read Pachinko and Eleanor Oliphant is Completely Fine - two amazing books about women - their struggles and triumphs. Right now, I'm switching over to The Gene, a book I've wanted to read since finishing Sapiens. I saw it mentioned on Reddit as a better look at our evolution.

  2. I've been reading more than bingeing, but a fun thing my friends and I have been using is Netflix Party. Regularly I'd probably watch Tiger King and Terrace House alone and then discuss it with my friends. Still, it's a pretty fun experience to have a watch party and watch the whole series together with live commentary. Even more interesting is the case with Terrace House because there is already a panel dissecting the housemates while my friends and I examine both of the panel and housemates.

  3. Although I miss my yoga and workout classes, I found great alternatives on Youtube. I've tried to do at least 10 minutes of yoga every day. Yoga with Kassandra on Youtube is doing a 30-day morning yoga challenge for April. They're great videos to start your day. She has a different intention every day to focus on. For workouts, I'm following MadFit, and her workouts are intense but easy to follow. I like how she explains the exercises and does them with you.
