Random Thoughts: Self-Isolation Edition 8/10
It's almost five months later, and there seems to be no end to the coronavirus in America. I'm still at home most of the time and only going out for food or hiking. Hiking is a great distraction to the current events. A nature bath always helps me feel better. Here are some things that are comforting me lately:
I love all the hiking options in the Bay Area. Although we have many county, state, and national parks nearby, most of them have a fee. So I've been going to open space preserves with free parking. The Midpeninsula Regional Open Space District manages 26 of these preserves, and I'm so grateful for them. In the last few months, I've been to Sierra Vista, Bear Creek Redwoods, Fremont Older, Sierra Azul (Mt. Umunhum), and Windy Hill. I hope to go on a few more hikes before the summer is over.
Some of my friends and I have used Spotify's collaborative playlists for a while. But during this time, it's a very nice way to stay connected with friends. I get to discover what songs my friends are into at the moment. My volunteer group, YCore, is also using it as a way to bond and share our upbeat songs for the summer that we play during our meetings.
Crash Landing on You – yes, the Korean drama that everyone raved about a few months ago. I started watching it back then but stopped because it didn't seem as interesting to me as other dramas that I've watched. I picked it back up again to watch over Netflix party with my friends, and I have to say I really liked it. My favorite parts are all the side characters and the comedic moments. I believe all the funny parts make the show special.
