Starting this series on some interesting things I’ve liked over the last week.
This Medium article explains exactly how I feel when I’m in San Francisco. There's this weird feeling of numbness seeing the homeless because it's so prevalent, but also feeling like how can I help this situation? There is so much wealth and also so much poverty in one area. Next to $4000/month high rise apartments you can find a man or woman slumped over on the same street.
I was looking into podcast advertising for work and came across this great in-depth article by Ahrefs. I loved how much detail it contains from showing how much money they spent to comparing scripted to non scripted ads. Although I don't like listening to ads in my podcasts, something that makes them unique is that the podcaster, a friend of the podcaster, or someone on the production team has used the product. That makes podcast advertising very unique because you trust the podcaster and if he or she recommends a product, you kind of remember it. Who remembers the Mailchimp ads in the first season of Serial? Although I don't use Mailchimp, I still clearly remember that ad.
Merry Go 'Round by Kacey Musgraves. I started listening to her discography because I love Golden hour so much. The lyrics to this song are very honest and raw. I watched Kacey's interview with Gail King and she mentioned that a music executive told her not to debut with this single, but she stayed true to herself and look at her now.
